PROJECT?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years, as primary teachers, we have been experiencing that our pupils are not eager to acquire new knowledge, if it not &#8220;served&#8221; through innovative and interesting ways. In fact, the so called Generation-Z absorbs tons of new information every day through visual perception and has an attention span of 8-seconds. Secondly, nowdays school communities consist of pupils from different cultural background (creating a difficult to handle learning environment), so future needs of our pupils will be to live and act in a multi-cultural community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, neither the teachers\u2019 training nor the school\u2019s curricula focus in cultural diversity or on visual representation of knowledge (at least as Generation-Z could absorb).<br> To overcome these obstacles, we had the idea to study local myths that provide the field of using innovative ways of representations in order to <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a) achieve curriculum objectives, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b) introduce common European cultural heritage principles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br> that will help us to learn how to live in a cultural diverse community.<br> The project was triggered by the latest scientific progress in the area of Mythology and its educational value. There are significant indications that the use of myths as a teaching tool and as an educational approach in the learning process could empower teachers with their overall educational work because of the deeper knowledge of the value of myths and because of children\u2019s response in the magic aspect lying in Mythology. Myths are also familiar to children through modern plays and digital reality such as computer games and in many cases through the narrations of their broader<br> environment.<br> For pupils, mythology is related to the cultural identity of each country and forms an introduction to intangible cultural heritage that represents inherited traditions from the past, skills and customs as they have been evolved through time, in response to the related natural and mankind environments and human values as they were depicted through myths<br> and legends. Consequently, an international engagement and nderstanding of myths is an important factor in maintaining cultural diversity in local level in the face of growing globalization but also in promoting an intercultural dialogue that will encourage sharing and understanding cultural manifestations of different countries.<br> There are two ways to get acquainted with another culture. Either through bibliographic research or through the experiential approach by visiting the actual place where the culture was evolved.
